One of the first oil paintings I ever created was a view of the C&O Canal close to my home in Bethesda, Maryland. Over the many years (Could it be 45?) it has hung on many walls and taken much abuse. Apparently the medium I used for my oil paints back then – seem to remember it involved bees’ wax – did not stand the test of time for the paints started cracking. So here’s my revision of the canal painting, this time done in watercolors.

After my son’s “Manly Mayhem Regatta” where grown men ply themselves with pancakes then squeeze into little boats and proceed to ram each other into concession in order to win ridiculously cheap trinkets as “awards,” the kayaks, paddles and other flotsam and jetsam are strewn across the yard…A definite painting opportunity!
