Burnt Gold Wedding Vase

A good friend from the Muddy Creek Artists Guild recommended I try some pottery. So here is my first attempt. I found it interesting but frustrating. I’m accustomed to unexpected things happening at the easel, but then I am privy to them at the time. That is, I see them happening even though they were not anticipated. However, in pottery, what came out of the kiln was most certainly not what went in. In time I could probably be better at anticipating the transformation from pre-kiln art to post-kiln art. But the vast range of change is frustrating to me. Guess I’m used to controlling what changes from plan through completion and not having the kiln interfere with that process. Funny aside: This vase won an award for best pottery at the Guild’s Art on the Half Shell exhibit in June 2010 🙂
